Chargers bow out of Aaron Printers Cup

A scratch Ashburton side made up of first teamers, second teamers and even regular first team umpire Vern "Kat" Coon travelled to play Paignton in the Aaron Printers T20 cup.

Ashes fielded first and runs were hard to come by for Paignton on a long outfield. Matt Churchill bowled an excellent opening spell (4 overs, 2 for 13) and was well supported by Tom Higgs (4 overs, 0 for 22).

Will Coon (4 overs, 2 for 20) and Matt Coon (4 overs, 0 for 33) kept the pressure on and then Robin Lambert (2 overs, 1 for 18) and Jerry Crouch (2 overs, 0 for 13) finished off well as Paignton were held to 119 for 7 in their 20 overs.

In reply Ashes also found runs hard to come by against good opening spells from the young Paignton attack. Dan Coles struck 35 from the opening berth but lacked support as only Will Coon (10) managed double figures. The rate had increased to 8 an over off of the last 10 and the game was then lost in a few balls as first Lloyd White suicidally ran himself out and then Coles was also run out following a mixup.

Thirteen year old Jake Pascoe (18no) played some lovely shots and batted through to the end as Ashes finished well short on 78 for 7 from their 20 overs.
