Week 4 match reports

Ashes first team travelled to Bridestowe on Saturday and won the toss and elected to bowl.

An opening stand of 113 Between Gary Sizmur (46) and James Ewen (53) threatened a large score but the introduction of Kris Connabeer (9 overs, 3 for 13) accounted for both and wickets fell steadily thereafter as George Marshall (3 for 39), Lloyd White (2 for 23) and Matt Churchill (2 for 45) saw Bridestowe dismissed for 173.

Unfortunately wickets also fell steadily throughout the Ashes innings as only Connabeer (11) provided any early runs as Ashes slid to 44 for 8. James Rush (21) and Marshall (10no) provided some resistance with s stand of 33 but Ashes were all out for a disappointing 88.

Ashburton two's fared a lot better as they entertained Shaldon two's and won their 4th match on the spin taking them to the top of the league.

The visitors won the toss and batted but struggled early on as skipper Chris Yeo (3 for 19) reduced them to 27 for 4. A partnership of 36 followed but when this was broken, Russ Lacey (4 for 10) ran through the tail as Shaldon subsided to 117 all out.

Russ Lacey (25), Jake Pascoe (14) and Nick Yabsley (16no) all chipped in on the run chase and a belligerent unbeaten 44 from 17 balls by skipper Yeo sealed the victory by 7 wickets with nearly 20 overs to spare.
