Ashes opening pair Dom Durman (4 for 24) and Akif Sohail (1 for 20) found plenty of assistance in the pitch as Kings were reduced to 23 for 4. Chris Yeo (2 for 12) and Matt Churchill kept the pressure on through the middle overs as only Joe Parker (27) offered much resistance. Robin Lambert (2 for 2) polished off the stragglers as Darts were all out for 95 with 8.2 overs of their 45 overs remaining.
The Ashburton reply got off to the worst possible start as Lloyd White pulled his first ball straight into square legs hands. Kevin Nicholls and Ashley Berry (19) added 37 to steady the ship and then Dan Coles (14) and Nicholls added a further 42 to take Ashburton to the brink of victory.
It was then left to Nicholls to hit the final winning boundary to take him to an excellent unbeaten 50. During the course of the innings he also passed the landmark of 5,000 first team league runs for the club.
