WEEK 15 MATCH REPORTS

Ashburton first team travelled to Chagford on a wet day that saw numerous games washed out across the league.

However with both teams keen to "get the game on" a reduced 36 over match was eventually started with Chagford batting. Their innings was based around a solid knock of 75 not out from skipper and opener Roger Whittingham as they reached 169 for 5 in their allocation. Wickets were taken by Matt Churchill (2 for 23), Robin Lambert (2 for 42) and Dom Durman (1 for 41).

Ashburton's reply was also based around a knock of 69 from opener Lloyd White. An opening partnership of 75 with Kevin Nicholls (26) who had to retire hurt was followed by a further stand of 43 with Dom Durman (21). When White was finally dismissed Dan Coles (18), Ash Berry (14no) and Martin Causey (8no) knocked off the rest with the minimum of fuss as Ashburton won by 6 wickets with 5.1 overs to spare. Alasdair Barclay (2 for 44) was the pick of the Chagford bowlers.

After the game skipper Ash Berry said "We were sloppy for the first quarter of the game but then picked it up and finished clinically. Credit to Chagford, our lads and both umpires for getting this game on today".

Lloyd White (69)

Unfortunately Ashburton second teams game at home to Dartington and Totnes second team was victim of the weather and cancelled without a ball being bowled.
