Week 14 Match Reports

Ashburton first team entertained Bridestowe first team on Saturday. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but were soon in trouble as Steve Edmonds ran through their batting lineup. Only Gary Sizmur (19) provided any resistance as Edmonds finished with fine figures of 9 overs, 2 maidens, 6 wickets for 20 runs to leave Bridestowe 57 for 7. Alex Jopling (25) and Chris Lavis (25) fought back with a partnership of 57 but when Arun Karthick (2 for 17) broke the stand the rest came quietly as Bridestowe were all out for 122 in 29.1 overs.

The run chase was a formality for Ashes as skipper Ash Berry (39no) saw his side home. He was well supported by Karthick (26), Dan Coles (18) and Jake Pascoe (16) as Ashes won with 6 wickets in hand and 14.2 overs to spare.

After the game Berry said "Great to have Steve back after an injury break, as he's so reliable for us. As a collective, I've been impressed with our consistency in all three disciplines, which has attributed to a lot of our results and certainly did this week.".

Steve Edmonds clean bowls a batsman on Saturday on his way to figures of 6 for 20.

Ashburton second team were soundly beaten away to Chagford first team. After winning the toss and electing to bat only Tony Lacey (34) and skipper Nick Yabsley (14) made it into double figures as Ashes were all out for 102.
