Ashburton CC Proudly Celebrates Cricket Collective Award Success

Ashburton Cricket Club is immensely proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement at this year’s Devon Cricket Collective Awards, held at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

Despite the rain affecting play on the day, the occasion was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible volunteers and clubs who continue to make grassroots cricket thrive across Devon. Winners and runners-up were invited to enjoy Day 3 of Somerset CCC’s Rothesay County Championship fixture against Sussex CCC, with lunch provided in the Colin Atkinson Pavilion before Somerset CCC Head Coach Jason Kerr presented the awards in the museum.

Ashburton CC was honoured to receive recognition in the Connecting Communities category — a testament to the outstanding work being carried out within our club, particularly in developing our flourishing women’s section.

Driven by the dedication and passion of Marcus West, the club has successfully built a thriving women’s cricket community, now boasting more than 25 players. Through Marcus’ leadership and the support of many other club members who have assisted with coaching and encouragement, the women’s section has become an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment where every player is given equal opportunities to enjoy and develop within the game.

This award is not only recognition of Marcus’ tireless efforts, but also of the club-wide commitment to creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy cricket. The growth of the women’s section has strengthened the sense of community at Ashburton CC and highlights what can be achieved when volunteers, players and supporters come together with a shared vision.
