Chargers Sign All-Rounder Vaibhav Sheth as 2024 Overseas

Ashburton, February 9, 2024 –

Ashburton Cricket Club is excited to announce the signing of Indian all-rounder Vaibhav Sheth for the upcoming season. The left-hander is a hard-hitting top-order batsman and also bowls right-arm leg spin, where he will no doubt bolster the club's batting lineup and provide a quality spin bowling option.

"We're absolutely thrilled to have a player of Vaibhav’s calibre joining our club," said Ashburton club captain Lloyd White. "His batting will provide stability to the top order and his clever spin will add a quality variation to our attack. Vaibhav’s experience and leadership whilst playing cricket at a high level in India, will be invaluable as we look to improve on last season's performances and compete at the right end of the table. I have no doubt we will all learn from his expertise. "

Vaibhav, who goes by the nickname ‘Bittu’, is 33 and based in Gujarat. He plays a for Surendranagar City District, which he has captained for the last ten years and comes with a wealth of cricketing experience. With a highest score of 155* and a best of 6 wickets for just 12 runs, he is looking forward to the summer ahead;

"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge with Ashburton. I've heard great things about the club and I can't wait to join my new teammates and hopefully have a successful season on and off the pitch. This is my first time playing a full campaign in the UK and I cannot wait to get out there."

With the addition of Vaibhav, Ashburton Cricket Club is poised to field a strong squad for the upcoming season as they look to build on a solid foundation. Vaibhav will look to arrive towards the end of April to ensure he can be involved in some pre-season fixtures.
