A young Chargers side took on Dartanians at the Varwell this evening with only 3 senior players in the team. Skipped by AJ we lost the toss and bowled first. Wickets were hard to come by to begin with but once Jack Warren (1-37) had made the break through wickets began to fall more regularly. AJ West (3-7) bowled a tidy 3 overs with Kirbz (2-25) and Luke Pascoe (1-21) also deservedly taking wickets.
The standard of fielding was high from the young lads and catches for Luke, Jack and Sam Higgs as well as a run out from Kirbz exemplified this. Dartanians ending on 121 for 8.
Chargers reply was lead by Colesy (30 retired) and Yabbers (23). Felix (16) kept the runs ticking over well supported by Toby (9) and the final push was on Chargers needing 40 off the final 4 overs. However, as the light worsened wickets fell. Batsmen were unselfish in pushing for the runs but Chargers finished just short with a respectable 104 all out.
A top effort from a young team.
