WEEK 18 MATCH REPORTS

Ashburton first team finished the DCL season with a match away to Kingsbridge with both sides comfortably in mid table.

Ashburton skipper Ash Berry won the toss and chose to bat and Lloyd White (22) and Jake Pascoe (9) added 31 before both fell in quick succession. Berry (17) and Dan Coles (11) for the score up to 70 for 2 before the wheels came off spectacularly as 8 wickets went for a further 30 runs. Only James Rush (14) made double figures as Ashes were all out for exactly 100. Bhanu De Silva took 5 for 11 for Kingsbridge.

Kingsbridge then raced to an eight wicket victory inside 14 overs with James Fletcher (36no) and Ashley Treeby (26no) the main run getters. Dom Durman and George Marshall picked up the wickets for Ashes.

After the game skipper Berry said "Somewhat of a write off today, but I'm just so proud of how we have turned the season around in the second half after a difficult start. We're now in a great position to build on going into next year".

Ashburton second team entertained their Kingsbridge counterparts and lost a high scoring game by 60 runs.

Kingsbridge batted forst and reached 232 all out in their 40 overs with Matt Hammet scoring 94. Tom Higgs (2 for 44) started the Ashburton fightback and then Russ Lacey (5 for 37) ran through the lower order.

Ashburton reached 172 all out in their allocation with Chris Pascoe (37), Greg Robinson (34), Marcus West (31) and Lacey (17) all chipping in.
