Ashburton Colts: Help Required

Dear all colts members, parents and volunteers,

With the cricket season now at a close, taking time out to reflect on the year is so important to ensure the club can continue to grow in all areas.

This season was once again extremely well attended and the coaches and volunteers who helped run each session were so grateful for the support of parents during the summer weeks. Many of the volunteers have undertaken their duties for many years, whilst it is also fantastic to see the sessions supported by new personnel. Many of whom have come through the Ashburton set up themselves.

New blood, objectives and ideas are now required more than ever as we look to recruit for the following two roles;

- Head of Junior Cricket

- Lead Coach

Without filling these roles over the coming winter, junior cricket at Ashburton simply won't be possible in 2020.

Previously, these roles were undertaken by myself and Chairman Jerry Crouch, who both due to increased work commitments, need to step aside.

The roles provide incumbents with the ability to re-structure and design the implementation of colts cricket at Varwell Field, to how they see the best fit. The roles are extremely rewarding, to see junior players progress through the age-group sides with the ultimate aim of players representing the club on a Saturday.

Responsibilities for both roles include (but are not limited to);

  • Fantastic organisational skills

  • Enthusiastic about cricket

  • Lead and organise all aspects of junior cricket

  • Ability to communicate

  • DBS check (paid for and organised by the club)

  • Only the 'Lead Coach' role needs to be a UKCC Level 2 Qualified Coach or equivalent

In return, you will receive full training/guidance from experienced committee members and the full backing of the clubs committee.

If you are not a Level 2 qualified but interested in the role(s), the club would support a full reimbursement for courses and qualifications and therefore this is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to improve their personal skillset.

If you have any questions about the roles or would like to learn more, please don't hesitate to pick up the phone or email me.

Both Jerry and I would like to take this opportunity to thanks all who have assisted us in the past years in our attempt to make colts cricket as successful as possible.

Best Wishes,

Lloyd & Jerry
